When directors and production managers book a drone crew, they are buying a lot more than just a camera in the sky. They are investing in risk management, absolute reliability, and zero downtime. At First Class Drones, our reputation is built on the rigorous preparation we do long before the propellers ever start spinning.

Clearing the Airspace Faster

Navigating Transport Canada regulations can easily derail a production timeline, especially for high stakes advertised events like massive stadium concerts or crowded urban shoots. We bypass this massive bottleneck because we hold a Standing SFOC for advertised events.

Since our safety management systems and operational track records are already vetted, our approval turnaround is incredibly fast. While other operators spend weeks waiting on paperwork, we get the green light in days or even hours. Whether we are locking down airspace for a live broadcast or securing approvals for a music festival, we keep your production agile and entirely on schedule.

Defeating the Boogie Man

On a live set, saying we had a technical glitch is simply not an option. You never know what the boogie man is up to out there. Whether it is unexpected RF interference, a damaged prop on takeoff, or a random hardware anomaly, we plan for the worst so your production gets the best. We enforce a strict rule of bringing complete backup systems to every single job.

  • Double the Fleet: We keep primary and secondary aircraft pre flighted and ready to swap at a moments notice.

  • Uninterrupted Power: Parallel charging stations and redundant batteries keep us in the air all day without skipping a beat.

  • Control and Monitoring: Backup ground stations and duplicate video feeds ensure the director always has eyes on the shot.

  • Comprehensive Coverage: Full commercial aviation liability insurance backs every flight to give your production team total peace of mind.

Unlocking the Sky Safely

Safety is not just a talking point. It is the law. When we fly heavier drones over crowds, we equip our platforms with Transport Canada approved parachute systems. These certified recovery systems deploy instantly if an anomaly occurs. This allows us to unlock highly dynamic close proximity angles while maintaining absolute compliance and protecting the audience below.

A Purpose Built Fleet for Every Frame

No single drone fits every mission perfectly. Our fleet covers the entire spectrum of unmanned aviation to match your exact creative demands.

  • Micro FPV: These custom built sub 250g platforms are perfect for tight indoor fly throughs or chasing the action directly through a crowded venue.

  • Mid Sized Cinema: We fly the DJI Inspire 3 equipped with the Zenmuse X9 8K Air camera, delivering uncompromising quality for narrative and television productions.

  • Heavy Lift: The Freefly Alta X is our heavy hitter. It is ready to carry large cinema payloads or custom quick release delivery mechanisms for bespoke practical effects on camera.

  • Fixed Wing: We operate small to large fixed wing platforms designed specifically for long range environmental surveying and mapping.

Pioneers in Canadian Airspace

We do not just follow aviation regulations. We actually help shape them. As industry pioneers, we actively collaborate with Transport Canada and NAV CANADA. We provide constant real world operational feedback to guide the future of drone laws. When you hire First Class Drones, you are getting a team that understands the airspace laws inside and out because we help inform where they go next.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much lead time do you need to get flight approvals?

Thanks to our Standing SFOC for advertised events, we bypass the standard Transport Canada bottleneck. While traditional operators often need several weeks to clear paperwork for a stadium or urban shoot, our vetted status allows us to secure your airspace with a minimum lead time of just 5 days.

What happens if a drone malfunctions during a live event?

Zero downtime is our standard. We bring complete duplicate systems to every single job. If our primary aircraft experiences an anomaly, we instantly swap to our secondary drone. We also bring redundant power stations and backup video feeds to ensure the director never loses the shot.

Is it legal to fly a drone over a crowded audience?

Yes, provided you have the precise equipment and certifications. We can legally do this because we file our Special Flight Operations Certificate (SFOC) for advertised events. We also utilize Transport Canada approved parachute recovery systems on our larger platforms. This allows us to legally and safely fly over crowds. While we cannot fly the Inspire 3 directly over people at this time, we can fly it around the perimeter of events to capture premium dynamic coverage.

What kind of cameras and payloads can your drones carry?

Our fleet scales precisely to your creative needs. We fly custom micro FPV drones for tight spaces, the DJI Inspire 3 with an 8K cinema camera for premium television, and the heavy lifting Freefly Alta X for flying large cinema packages or carrying custom practical effect mechanisms.

Do you provide your own liability insurance?

Absolutely. Every First Class Drones operation is backed by $12,500,000 in drone liability insurance. We provide comprehensive coverage that easily satisfies the strict requirements of major sports venues, stadiums, and enterprise productions.
